Reading Festival (Of Course!)

We are really counting down now! Daniel Špaček will be here tomorrow and Friday. Next week, we will kick-off the week with an assembly and… dress up day! Students are encouraged to dress up as a book character on Monday, March 11th. Please don’t buy expensive ready-made costumes. Be creative, borrow or shop second hand. You can do a lot with a piece of cardboard, tape and a few colorful markers! Teachers will be dressing up too! And the library will be turned into Emerald City from the Wizard of Oz…

Check out the pdf slideshow attached to this post for an overview of who will be here during the Reading Festival and what will be happening after school in the library.

Reading Festival 2019! Display and Screen

Note that our Read Alouds will be held by author Sandy Brown, who came to visit us last year at ISGR. She felt so inspired by her visit, and by meeting our wonderful students, that she wrote a new story! Come and listen on Wednesday, March 13th at 14.30 in the library!

Also, on Friday, March 15th Swedish author Kerstin Lundberg Hahn will come to our school to share some of her books with us! She has written the Fröke Spöke series, and her most recent book is, “Min hemliga tvilling.” We are excited to welcome Kerstin to our school again!

Mark your calendar for the Book Fair, on Friday March 15th. It takes place from 14.30 – 16.00, in the library. Yvonne will be there with Usborne Books, as well as Mia from Bokskåpet. Justin D’Ath and Hanna Olausson will be there to sell and sign their books, as well as available for Meet & Greet! Daniel Špaček will try to come, but it depends on his time travel vehicle! (I’ve heard it’s not too reliable).

If your child is in PAL and wants to visit the Book Fair, they will have to be picked up by the parents first. PAL Teachers are not able to bring the children up to the Book Fair, unfortunately.

We hope to welcome many students for our Read-A-Thon on Thursday, March 14th!

We’ve had several students finish their Reading Challenge already! Hurray!

During the Reading Festival, we will be taking photos and videos, and posting them on this blog along the way! Make sure to sign up to follow our blog during this time. You can always unsubscribe after Reading Festival.

We are looking forward to a great Reading Festival, partly funded by the Creative School Grant from the National Council of the Arts.
