Week 21: ISGR Summer 2020 Reading Challenge

So Many New Books!

All our new, cataloged books are on display in our library. We are so excited by these new titles, and we hope our students are too! Among our new books, we have great fiction for 9 – 12 year olds, internationalized traditional fairy tales, additions to our Disney picture book collection, Swedish non-fiction and bold, colorful picture books.

ISGR Summer 2020 Reading Challenge

It is time again to introduce our Summer Reading Challenge! It is a fun way to encourage students to read through the summer and keep up their reading skills while nurturing healthy reading habits!

This year, upon completion, students will receive a 20% discount voucher for the book store Bokskåpet! Bokskåpet sells books (mostly in Swedish, with some English titles as well) and some craft items, puzzles and games. We are excited to offer this to our students who have successfully completed their ISGR Summer 2020 Reading Challenge. The challenge is for students both in the PYP and LGRP section, from grades K/F all the way up to 5!

If the corona virus circumstances allow us, we will have a Library Party in September with all students who have completed the ISGR Summer 2020 Reading Challenge.

Since upcoming week is a short school week (Monday through Wednesday), students who have their library lesson on Thursday or Friday, can come to the library Monday – Wednesday to pick up their ISGR Summer 2020 Reading Challenge form – or you can download it here:

Read-A-Thon Results

We had an astonishing number of 32 students participate in our ISGR Read-A-Thon this year! Thank you to all of the families for supporting this event. We will now order the requested titles (students who participated in the Read-A-Thon got to choose a book we should buy for the library), and catalog them as soon as possible! Realistically, students will most likely be able to check out the books after the summer break, though – as week 22 is the last week to check out books!

Looking Ahead

Week 21: Introduction and invitation to the ISGR Summer 2020 Reading Challenge.

Week 22: Last week to check out books. Library lesson used to prepare for the Origami Workshop the next week.

Week 23: All students will return all of their outstanding library books. Origami workshop with Rachel Barron (in the library lesson).

Happy Reading!
