Can’t Wait to See You!

Welcome back! We hope you’ve had a restful and joyful summer break!

We did! Sophie visited an ice library, and Fleur did lots of reading on her balcony.

We are ready for another great school year in the library! We’ve put up our displays, with a ton of new books. Library cards are updated, and furniture has been moved around a bit. We are excited! You too?

Here are the Read-A-Thon books ready to go out to our very patient Read-A-Thon participants!
These Read-A-Thon books need to be processed, but we are hoping to have them ready by next week!

We will have our library lessons, library club (on Tuesdays this year), and your favorite books as usual. This year, we will also have an “aquarium club“. We’ve got an empty aquarium/tank in our library at the moment. Student volunteers will inquire into what the best way is to use it (Fish? Other animal? No pets at all?). Let us know if you’d like to be part of our aquarium club!

This week and next week, students will check out one library book. From the third week on, students will be invited to borrow up to two library books per lesson. You are welcome after school (between 14.30 – 15.00) to switch out your books, on any day! Students can have up to three books checked out on their accounts.

During the first six weeks of school, we will focus on routines and expectations in our library. This is in line with the Responsive Classroom approach we follow at our school. “Responsive Classroom is a student-centered, social and emotional learning approach to teaching and discipline. It is comprised of a set of research, and evidence-based practices designed to create safe, joyful, and engaging classrooms and school communities for both students and teachers.” Read more on their website, or go to their YouTube channel.

If you have any questions, please contact us at our new email addresses: fleur.doornberg-puglisi@staff.isgr.se and sophie.arnold@staff.isgr.se. Fleur works mostly with PYP students and teachers. Fleur is in the library Tuesday – Friday. Sophie works with LGRP students and teachers, as well as with PYP. Sophie is in the library Monday – Thursday.

We can’t wait to see you back in our library again! We are looking forward to a great year of library learning and reading adventures!

Yours Sincerely,

Sophie & Fleur

P.s. It is not too late to do the ISGR Summer Reading Challenge! Last day to hand it in is on Friday, August 28th.
